The status of Taiwan

                 R.O.C  lost its  United  Nations  seat as  China in 1971  ,(Replaced  by   the  P.R.C )  .Most  sovereign states have switched  their  diplomatic  recognition  to P.R.C.to  be  the sole   legitimate representative   of all China  including   taiwan .  United  Nations General  Assembly  resolusion  505, passed on  February  1952,  considered  that  the  Chinese  comminists  ( the P.R.C.  GOVERNMENT  )  to be  rebels  against   the  R.O.C.  which  in the past achively  pursued  the  claim as  the  sole legitimate  government  over  mainland china  and  Taiwan  .  this  position    started  to  be  changed  after  the  25th of  October in 1971.   So the   R.O.C.may  have ceased to  be  a  state  after  1971,  as a  matter  of  international   law  . In  case  where all U.N members  or  sovereign  states  participate, such as  World Health Organization  ,  World Trade  Organization  , and International  Olympic  Committee  under unusual  names  ,  "Chinese  Taipei "   As of  January  2008,the  R.O.C  maintains  official  diplomatic  relation  with  23  sovereign   states ,  under  various  names, such  as  the  Taipei Economic  and  cultural office  .  In  ISO  3166-1 Taiwan  is registered   as  a  provinces  of  China  .
